Kaira Looro 2023 was an international competition focused on the design of a primary school in southern Senegal. The proposal envisioned a sustainable and adaptable learning environment, combining educational spaces with facilities shared by the local community.

Responding to the challenges of climate change and humanitarian conditions, the project emphasized self-construction, future expansion and the use of natural, affordable and locally available materials to create a low-impact building.

A central gathering space forms the heart of the complex, bringing together classrooms and communal areas within a protected environment. To reduce costs and improve thermal comfort, large glazed openings were minimized and replaced by timber screens
